Redevelopment Plans Take Shape in the Triangle

The Borough is pleased to announce the next steps toward redevelopment plans in the triangle area located between Chestnut and Park Aves. These improvements are possible through funding awarded to Merchantville through a Transportation Alternatives Grant. The goal of the Transportation Alternatives Program is to provide federal funds for community-based “non-traditional” projects designed to strengthen the cultural, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of the nation’s intermodal system.

Engineering firm CME recently presented its updated plans to develop the area as a pedestrian friendly community area boasting a green landscape, walking paths, fire pits and more. The improvements encourage more foot traffic and offer new spaces for community gatherings. The renderings, presented at the Feb. 13 Borough Council meeting, illustrate the incredible change planned for the area.

The design is currently planned to break ground in late 2023. Additional improvements along Park Ave are under discussion in cooperation with Camden County.
