Raymond Woods, Council

Ray and his wife Molly have been proud Merchantville residents since 2016. In 2020, they welcomed a new member to our community with the birth of their daughter Lucy. Professionally, Ray serves as Policy Director in the New Jersey General Assembly, where he has helped advance impactful policies for New Jersey’s working families, including New Jersey’s Equal Pay Law and the law extending paid sick time to all New Jersey employees. During his time on Council, Ray has promoted policies aimed at making our borough more inclusive and representative of all our residents through his work with the Merchantville Diversity Committee. Additionally, he has worked with our borough’s Green Team and sustainability partners to make our community more environmentally-friendly by removing plastic from our yard waste disposal stream and helping Merchantville achieve Bronze status accreditation through Sustainable Jersey for the borough’s sustainable practices. He is proud of the borough council’s work to advance many initiatives to beautify our downtown and strengthen our community, including recent enhancements to the bike path and streetscape which have made our downtown more even more walkable and attractive to visitors and residents.
